Snow foam for hose pipe

Featured Replies

What's my options for buying an attachment to use snow foam with a hose pipe?

I've got great water pressure and even with just the pipe on the fast spray it cleans off the dirt so think it's ideal for me to use a snow foam gun.

I've seen Halfords sell the demon shine snow foam stuff for £12 so that looks ok but I don't want to strip any of my wax off after a spent ages waxing it all properly last week.

I've tried that Demon stuff with the built in lance and TBH it comes out quite watery rather than snowy. I bought a Karcher snow foam lance for the pressure washer and used through that it's not bad.

IMO you really need a pressure washer to get the required foaminess.

TBH if you only have a hose as Lee said the Demon snow foam is ok. Ok you'll never get any pressure behide it like a pressure washer, but if your local water pressure is ok then it will do the job.

Snow foam should not strip the wax as it's not really that strong. I would recommend using Sonax Quick Detailer after you finished wasging the car. It will keep top up the protection and only takes a small amount of time.

I'll give it a try then, looks nice and simple to use.

I apply Aqua Wax after cleaning to top up the wax and add protection.

I'd recommend the Bilt Hamber foam BUT applied by garden sprayer. You won't have the fun of making snow but it's an effective cleaner as a prewash and diluted at 4 or 5 per cent won't strip wax Added to that it's very economical using it this way

I've used the Demon Snow Foam as supplied with attachment via a hose and it's ok albeit as Lee01 said its a bit watery... if you aim it up into the air a bit and allow it to fall onto the car it's a bit better than than spraying it directly onto it.

Thanks for the tip, I'll read into the demon stuff a little bit first. as said, I don't want it stripping any of my wax off.

It's more the attachment I'm interested in :)

Gilmour Foamaster II or lookalikeys will be far better than the options above in my opinion

There is this gun on ebay for under £20.00 delivered from China atm.

I have been looking at investing as I hate getting the pressure washer out of the shed and am no longer a great believer in the need to snow foam.

The alternative to snow foam for me is a pump action sprayer with a citrus based cleaner or even low dilution snow foam chem, coat the car and rinse, keep the dilution such so that it is not too strong so it wont attack rubbers etc and wet enough that it wont dry out too quickly.  Blast off at an angle after a few minutes with a hose.  I can get as good a results as snow foam in a lot less time.

Hi Sparkly, I didn't suggest the Gilmour Foamster as I haven't personally tried one, when I tried the Super Spray I didn't get a very good foam cover and put that down to the crap water pressure at my brothers :(

I eventually installed an outside tap inside and can now wash the car at home and feed power out for the pressure washer and Blaster Sidekick dryer (used more on the Harley but good for mirrors door shuts etc.), have to agree though I have to be in the mood to lug the pressure washer out!

Good to see you dipping into this section again, your thoughts and comments were always worth taking into account and the group buys were very well received, I hope the family and work are giving you a bit more free time these days mate :)

I can understand the need for a pressure washer when your wanting to do a full detail, i just want somthing to help aid in the weekly clean more than anything.

Remove as much dirt as i can before even touching the paint with my wash mit.

Update:

Bought the demon shine stuff with attachment, as the above has said, it's naff really.

Might give a good shine etc but as far as the foam goes, nothing :D

What about the WoWo one?

I should take that back actually.... Let me get my excuses ready.

My girlfriend must have picked up the wrong bottle and was the show shine rubbish :D

I never even checked what it was!!

Anyway, went back the next day and bought SNOW FOAM, and it's fantastic! Comes out very well and goes a long way, it applies nice and thick and stays foamy for a while dragging the dirt off the car!
