Coming to end of 3 year warrantee

Featured Replies

My automatic Yeti  will be 3 years old in June.

Is there any benefit in having the MOT and service carried out at the dealers I bought the car from, would they be aware of any problems I may not know about that they would fix FOC during the service.

I have not had any problems with the car in the time I have had it or can think of anything I would need doing under the warrantee.

When and at what mileage was it last serviced? Skoda dealer? Mileage now? Annual mileage?

Would be glad to advise.

a lot of people have the first MOT done at the dealer (up to a month before required) so that any issues found that are warranty can be resolved before the warranty expires

Even better for some is to have a MOT done at a Station that tests cars but does no repairs,

and if there are any issues that are Warranty matters then have those done at a Skoda Main Dealers.

Check and see if your vehicle has any outstanding Service Campaign Actions needing done.

?

Did your Yeti need to Service Campaign on the DSG and has it been done? (Free)

If you are going to buy an Extended Warranty from Skoda, maybe as well to get this service done at a Main Dealership

and then purchase the Warranty.

Then you will be up to date on the Service Schedule / Guidelines.

You will get any software updates done and any enhancements, or you should do.

*Brake Fluid change is due at 3 years if not already done.*

I just a few days ago had my first MOT done with the second variable service, in fact I still had about a 1000 miles to go. I'm glad I did as whilst it passed the MOT ok the dealers Health Check showed an oil leak on the transfer box. The total cost to replace the item was £2.3K, just 4 days inside the 3 year warranty.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies,

Furniture: I have been unable to get on to the recall site it says it is currently unavailable , how can I find out if my car was part of the service campaign for the DSG my Yeti is an Elegance 1.2 TSI DSG 105 registered 25-6-2013

Not sure yet if I will go for a extended warrrantee  I need to get a quote.

An added complication I have is the MOT and the 3 year warrantee are up on the 25th of June 2016 I am due to have a shoulder  operation on the 18th of May and will not be able to drive for 6 to 8 weeks after the operation, so I was thinking I may need to have the service and MOT done before the 18th of May losing about 5 weeks on my MOT and Warrantee, The car will not be on the road from the 18th of May till about the 1st 2nd week of July

Advanced Member : This next service  is only my 2nd service I had a 20,000 service on the 30-10-14 when the milage was 15,568 at the Skoda dealer I bought the car from

My current milage is 29907 and I am currently doing about 9,000 per annum

Thanks

David

To check if your car has any outstanding Service Campaign Recall actions and Volkswagen Group Dealership can check from your Registration Number,

or call Skoda UK Customer Services and ask the Call Handler to check.

The DSG Service Campaign started in May 2014 in the UK, so any Dealership doing a Service in October 2014

should have been aware if required.

Still worth checking though.

Having the MOT carried out early has no affect on the cars Warranty,

it is running for 3 years from the Date the car was First Registered.

Can you have the first MOT done early?

If you can fine, but otherwise you could always leave it until you can drive again unless someone else can take it to be done.

The most important thing though is getting it serviced/checked over before the warranty is up. That would hurt if you found out later something was wrong, out of warranty.

You can have a MOT carried out any time you want, have one even earlier than 1 month before 3 year old if it suits you.

I knew that was the case when you were renewing MOT's, just didn't know if you could that far ahead when it's the first one.

Makes sense though, as it gives you time to get work done if required.

I called at the Skoda dealers yesterday to check out my options

If I was to trade in my car for a new one I would get about £11k for mine and a new one to same spec would cost £23k Too big a difference for me to consider

They said there was no jobs that they knew of that needed doing  before the end of the three year warrantee

As I was not able to drive the car after the 17th May due to the op I was having it was decided I should have the MOT and the Service carried out before the 17th May

A 40,000 service ( Mine will have just over 30,000 at time of service) would cost £435.98 this includes the replacement of the spark plugs which cost £100)

MOT at £39

If I needed new tyres they have quoted £188.31 per tyre fitted

I have looked on the internet and Skoda have an offer at other local dealers  with a major service at £259 ( Not sure I need to check if this includes plugs ?)

Halford are quoting £106 for same tyres, they also do services although I think I would prefer the service to be carried out by a Skoda dealer.
