Underbonnet part ID - something's ticking.....

Featured Replies

Need some help to ID a part under the bonnet on the vRS. Pulled up at work this morning and heard a regular ticking noise, roughly once per second. Opened the bonnet and found a black box on the RH side by the PAS reservoir and the coolant tank with what looks like a solenoid on the top that was the source of the ticking. It has a couple of vacuum pipes running to it, one to the throttle body. Anyone know what it is, and is it supposed to tick when the engine is running?

It's the charcoal canister and its normal to click. A lot of vRS owners delete it.

That makes sense, cheers. Not really heard it before, don't usually have the door open with the engine ticking over

Can be a bit noisy, as said it's normal, if it's clicking it's working
