I am new to the forum, I just picked up my 13 plate monte 1.2 tsi, I am loving it. However, the dials do not show me the engine temperature and the petrol guage is digital. Seems my dials are the basic version as below in picture.  

 

 

I really want to upgrade this to the following set but I am not sure where to source one from and how easy a job this is.

 

 

The second picture is called Maxidot and its definitely worth doing if you're keeping the car.

Speak to a chap on here called EddieNL (that's if he still does it), he's the man for this but it isnt cheap, that's in general not what he charges etc.

It has to be coded into the car, mileage corrected and other things.

You are looking at about £600 for the new cluster!! From Skoda - and that was with "mates rates" then it's the trip to Eddie at Gt Yarmouth.

£600.... that's a hell of a lot, I think I will just have to live with my current dials. It was a choice of getting another car from the dealership with the maxidot or mine. However the advantages of mine over the other was; better seat colour, a year newer, updated badging and steering wheel and less mileage. I think overall I made the right choice.

 

I will pm Eddie though and perhaps he may be able to source a used unit, fingers crossed.

I have to say:-

What ever time you spend driving - one of the things you look at most are the instruments! So if you are not happy with what you see!!

So I changed the instruments, steering wheel and had a leather retrim - amongst other bits.

Eddie did my Maxidot a couple of months ago, I picked up a second hand unit for £55. You just need to get the right clocks to match your key. PM EddieNL he can advise you on the correct ones.
