Is this rubber any good?

Featured Replies

I am in the market for some new treads for my vrs.

I had previously bought the Ventus v12 for each corner. I managed to now chew through the front set after 14000 miles and the rears are still solid. I have had a great experience with these and can vouch for them.

I have been looking around and found these tyres and prices for some tyres. I dont mind going for thr v12 again but if anyone had reviews for the others in the picture it would go a long way before I purchase some. FYI, the Laufenn are a brand by Hankook and are now selling across Europe. These are their performance tyres.

Thanks!post-134664-0-24208600-1461717835_thumb.png

I should state the sportcontrols are Fulda.

For a saving of 14 euro why would you change from a tyre you are happy with? You may put in the fuldas and hate them

Stick with the hankooks.

I like the Goodyear asy2 and will replace with Goodyear asy3 when they eventually need replacing.

Hankook v12 are a decent tyre. If you are happy get them again.

I run Michelin's on both of my cars. Quite happy with them.

Thank you for your input everyone!

You all all correct, why should I try something else when I know I am happy with Hankooks?

But...

I have one more in the running, the Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Currently selling at a nice price on Camskill.

Before I went ahead with the Hankooks, I was deciding between these two. I went with the Hankooks as they have great wet weather ratings and I heard they last a little longer.

I am keen to get the Uniroyals now for the front.

Shout for any objections!

Rainsports are very good, but wear out quickly. Well worth it if you don't mind having to change them more frequently.

Other than that, keep the Hankooks if you like them.

Or try one of the new generation of all seasons like the Michelin CrossClimate or Nokian Weatherproofs?

I guess it isn't just hearsay, the UR3 do wear down quicker than others, but then again I would get that lovely grip.

My annual mileage is about 5k (Funny how much lower it gets once you get hitched. I did more than twice this before) so I think the UR3 could last a while for me.

With regards to the all season tyres, should I consider them? Do I have to be aware of anything for 'spirited' driving when making a choice?

I have been used to having summer tyres on my cars as I hardly drive in the snow or really poor conditions. I just like having good wet grip for those rainy London days.

I'll probably be getting uniroyal RS3s next as lots of people swear by them.  I too only do about 5-7k per year, so them wearing down quicker than others isn't really a serious issue. I never bother swapping wheels for seasons as snow/ice is rarely a problem here and I don't do enough miles to justify the extra expense of having summer/winter wheels.

The Rainsports sound perfect for your needs then, UdayP.

Yup, I will order and post a pic once they are on.

Thank you for the support!
