Apologies, that's windows 11

I'll get back to you shortly

In win 10 Click on window "start" shows three columns

"most used" which shows most used apps at the top then an alphabetical list below.

"life at a glance" Not sure how that is populated but shows date, weather.

and finally

" play and explore" if you scroll down the alphabetical list on the left for the programs you use most, right click and pin to start, they appear in "play and explore"

@leolito I've been using Classic Shell for years. Is this what you're after? My most recently used programs appear on the left.
Far easier to navigate than the native Win 10 Start button menu IMO

I also use Classic Shell (originally on Windows 10 but now on Windows 11), it's no longer being developed so support is a bit flaky.

IIRC there's a configuration app/program installed into the same folder, worth checking this out.

You can open the Classic Shell settings if you open the program (click on the shell picture)

Lee thanks! You nailed it! My issue is tht  I cannot see the "most recent programs", my list stays blank with only Windows Defender on it. No amount of usage bring any "app" in there. Am I missing something in the settings?

Mine is set as 'Classic with two columns' I think

@leolito type in 'Classic Shell' in the search box if you can find or you may be able to open it if you go into settings.

I succeeded! I changed the settings to 'recent programs' (it was 'frequent programs'). Now it seems fine, will run it for a couple of days and see....

Incidentally, today I received an email labeling me a pervert and preparing myself with a thousand bucks in crypto otherwise my deviances will be exposed ... well at least it got me motivated to change my password, thing that I was delaying ....
