Appologies, its a 96 N reg falecia 1.3 glxi, a few odd bits in the engine, one square air box that seems to go no where, a strange round plastic box with what looks like a hydrolic hose attached which is part of the air intake leading to a round filtered air box on top of the engine, the round bit also has a hose leading to what looks like the exhaust headers??

photos might help if you can...

:) The square box that seems to go nowhere is a "silencer" to reduce air intake noise.

The strange round plastic box in the air intake is a thermotatically controlled device that lets the engine take either heated air from the exhaust manifold area or cold air from the front of the car. The "hydraulic" hose is a vacuum pipe to control the flap that regulates hot/cold air.

:D I dunno if any of that makes sense, but I know what I mean even if no-one else does!!:thumbup:

It does, but why on earth would you need a box to reduce airintake noise, actualy looks like it would resduce air intake. And why would it need warm air? thought it was better to have cold air........also there is a pipe looks a bit like a coolant pipe sticking up behind the engine capped with a plastic molded erm cap......strange things thing ill stick to working with bike engines.

 I agree, that silencer thing is a bit pointless, the 135 [low compression]engines don't have this feature. Basically it just reduces the "bark" of the air being drawn into the engine at large throttle openings.

The hot air feature is to stop the fuel mixture icing up in the throttle body, this used to be a problem on carb. fed engines more than with S.P.i systems like the Felicia has.

The "capped" pipe you refer to is the brake servo pipe, you really do need that one!! :P

I must sound a right anorak!!! :D:rofl:

The world needs anoraks, or wed spend fortunes on fixing things in garages, and nothing new would ever get invented.

so its the SPI I have yes?

Yeah, the MPi engine didn't arrive till sometime during late 1997ish

cool, good to know, good wee car and really nippy for only a 1.3 the 0 to 60 is far faster than my much newer clio, but i killed that on an icy road....forgot a car cant hold the same speed in a bend my bike can. but extra bhp and torque would be welcome. not sure what its sitting at just now but must be more than 60.

have skoda done a normal ???? cleared out the store room as the car passed on production????? me a 120L (89) with (-85) front pads???

my 95 N felicia with seatbelts from a favorit?????

they used to do this a LOT

Most manufacturers do this, the amount of motorcycle parts bin specials are unreal, saves on cost though.

I imagine it's so you can fully appreciate the noise from the slack in the timing chain and oversize valve clearances without any induction roar getting in the way:D

:D I love all that clattering and rattling from old Skoda engines, all part of the charm and "character"!!!

man, the first time i got out of the car and heard my engine running from the outside, i was terrified! now i know it's just her 'character' as you say... :)

Rofl.

I have a skoda felicia 1997 with the MPi engine. It has 68Bhp standard i believe. so your SPi must be the same engine that was in my favorit SPi. I think that has 54BHp standard, but don't quote me lol (u can actually).

The MPi has an amazing difference compared to the SPi, its wierd. I think its just that little bit more responsive and obviously a little more efficient, but all skodas are great:D of course

54 IS THAT ALL???????

this Skoda seems a bit quick for only 54 HP, the top end is around 110 (on the clock) and the 0-60 is around 8 seconds.....and I thought it weight a fair bit
