Bluetooth / phone issues - Columbus

Featured Replies

Okay, had the car a few days and a few things are boiling my pee! Really hope its just me not setting it up properly... So:-

Phone connects to car, all good. Calls are good, clear, etc. BUT when connected I no longer have any audible notifications from the phone when I have a text/email/whatsapp, etc. My Altea had the factory VAG/BT bluetooth set up and didnt silence the phone when connected. Now, if I'm parked up and send a text/email/whatsapp message when the phone is connected to the car the phone is silent when typing/sending/receiving.....

Following on from the above, when in the Altea, if I had a text it would automatically get read out to me and I could command via the voice control - nothing I'd set up, it happened automatically when the phone was connected. This was a great feature which I can't believe isnt available on the Octy being as its 6 years newer & got the Columbus upgrade.....

Also, I can not access the phone directory/names list via the MFSW. Again, with the Altea, I could get the directory up on the dash display and use it accordingly - all I can get up on Maxidot is call history which is crap!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, the phone is a Nokia Windows phone........

I too have the same issue which I have not been able to solve.

No problems with phone through Amundsen MIB1 main screen but only list of used numbers in maxi dot and no access to phone book.using Samsung galaxy s6 edge.

If you have Columbus then you have apple car play, so set that up and then when plugged in you'll get text message functionality.

Car play doesn't support email or whatsapp though, so no help there. Text is pretty redundant now with whatsapp. And I suspect it won't alert you to email and whatsapp for safety reasons perhaps; they are not operable from the car so if alerted to them you'll likely use the phone whilst driving? Dunno. Tbh car play is a bit ****e really; the integration is poor and there're so many missed opportunities because apple wont run third party apps on it

Just noticed you have a windows phone. Presumably you can then use mirror link through Columbus which I think does similar to car play

Don't think Mirror Link supports Windows phones........ :-(   Whats annoying is its a new car with the upgraded (Columbus) system and there were more features on my 2010 Altea with the standard bluetooth!!

I find this disappointing too - had it on my 61 plate Elegance with Bluetooth, so it does seem a backwards step. I had a very brief tinker to see if I could find a voice command to read out the message when it arrived, but couldn't find anything.
