Fabia mk3 genuine Skoda spare wheel kit £80
village replied to village's topic in Wheels & Tyres For Sale
I'd be happy to wrap it all up nicely if you arrange a courier; i can give you weight and dimensions etc if that's a route you want to go down Alternatively i'm a bit closer to you this weekend (Cotswolds; Chipping Norton) and could take it with me if you were prepared to travel that far to collect- 10 replies

I have a genuine Skoda spare wheel kit rescued from my wife's 2020 Fabia. It's a 15" steel wheel on a 185/60/r15 Kumho ecowing ES01, and it comes with the polystrene block with jack and brace, as well as the strap and the screw to attach it to the boot floor. It was put in the car once while I repaired a puncture and rolled around the drive but has never been used in anger, as can be seen from the pictures. Collection from Folkestone for £80

I have a set of 4 Gemini wheels off my old vRS. I think they've done a grand total of about 30k miles and have no cracks or buckles. They are reasonably tidy although a few of them do have a little bit of curb rash and they have all succumbed to the dreaded white worm to a degree on the polished edge. They all need new tyres. There are only pictures of three of them (was going to keep one as a spare but not any more) but if they're of interest let me know and I'll put up some more pictures. Available for collection only from Folkestone, Kent for £300. May consider splitting if there's enough interest (i.e. three of them).

Genuine rubber Skoda floor mats and boot mat for mkiii Fabia estate. These are from a facelift mkiii; I suspect these would fit non facelift cars too, but I don’t actually know so it would be buyer’s responsibility to check. In used but good condition as shown in the photos. The drivers one is the only one that shows any real wear but that is fairly minimal, as shown in the photo. Collection only from Folkestone in Kent. I do drive up to Manchester every other week so there’s potential scope for a drop off somewhere along the route, possibly. Would rather sell as a set but may consider splitting. £60 for all five.

What's your quick interior clean methods?!
village replied to SkodaNewb's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I use 303 aerospace protectant on the dash; I rate this stuff really highly. And then for quick seat clean it’s either a damp microfiber or chemical guys quick leather detailer. Or for a more serious seat cleaning it’s Gliptone -
I've reached this dilema. Had mine since new (2016 2.0TDi 184ps, think it's a CUNA) and it's always been a little thirsty. I think it was doing 1-1.5 litres per 10k miles right from the start, so nothing major. But has started to increase recently. When it got to 150k it was doing about 1 litre every 2k miles, and it's now approaching 160k and most recently burned through 1 litre in 800 miles! I just dont know if it's worth the money investigating the issue. Certainly cant be worth replacing the engine because all the other parts are getting pretty leggy by now. I'm not sure if there is another option other than to run it into the ground. I dont think i could realistically sell it (with a conscience)

So i've done 150k on my vRS, mostly trouble free motorway miles, and i would say that this is hands down the best car i've owned. However, for the last 10k or so I think it must have spent most of its time in regen. The soot level slowly climbs from about 0.3g up to about 2.5-3g, then jumps to 19.4g and starts a regen. The regen gets it back to around the 0.3 mark and then it usually just sits there for ages, still in regen, until i can trick it into finishing, usually by coasting for a while or turning it off. Occasionally it will finish under its own steam. I dont have an android so sadly i cant get VAG dpf app, but based on a bit of research i'm guessing it's behaving like this because it's full of ash. My research also suggests that means either i replace the dpf, or i get it cleaned, off car. Cleaning is obviously much cheaper, so my immediate preference, but is it worth it.... It seems that companies that clean dpf's say they'll get it 95% clean so it's basically like new, and companies that dont clean them say it's a waste of time. No surprises there, so looking for some real world experience. So my questions are: Has anyone done or had done an off car clean, and if so was it successful? Assuming it's cleaned properly, what life span can you realistically expect before it needs doing again? How easy is it to remove the dpf? I've been told you need to take the subframe off... Anyone got a how to on removing the dpf Many thanks all

So thought i ought to follow this up, just in case it's of use to someone else. My first plan was to ignore it, which i did, and it worked, albeit briefly. So when I next got in the car the next day, all the lights were still there, but went off after a few yards and then I cleared all the codes on carista. Next long journey, after about 5 hours, all the lights came back. Then went off, came back, went off and then came back again and stayed on for the rest of the journey. But again, when left overnight they would clear after a few yards the next day. This cycle continued for a while (looks like 6mths from the date of my last post!), and it became apparent that the hotter the ambient temp was, the sooner the fault would occur. Checked the live data on Carista for wheel speeds, which all looked ok and suggested my idea of a faulty abs sensor was off, so, after i got a new light (Error: Brake. Workshop!), I bit the bullet and got skoda to run a diagnostic. Nothing enlightening from the diagnostic, but the tech reckoned it was lightly to be a faulty main power relay. There are two main power relays, and apparently the other one doesn't control anything overly important, so power relays have been swapped round and we'll see what happens. If that solves it, a new relay is only £23, so fingers crossed.... These were the warnings I was getting as at the last activation. Can share the Carista codes too if any interest
