A very basic question to start with. How do I remove the plastic engine cover on the top of my 2002 Octavia 1.6i? I can't see any fixings, does it just pull off? I don't want to brake anything. Thanks.

Not totally familiar with that engine but if there are no fixings going in from above (usually plastic philips screw looking type things, quite large) then it should just be pressed on to rubber bungs like the one in my Seat. Just lift and it should pop up I would have thought.

Thanks Yellow Car, I thought that would be the case but I always like to check. That way there is less possibility of breaking something.

No worries, that type of cover is pretty snug and requires a good pull which can be quite disconcerting the first time you do it. My Seat needs a good pull and often leaves a rubber bung or 2 behind on the mounting point.
