02 110 1.9tdi water pump failure

Featured Replies

Hey guys prob asking the impossible here... Thermostat light started intermittently flicking on/off bout a week ago but car temp never exceeded 90. No water loss either. I kept an eye on it and got it diagnosed by mechanic and booked in for replacement at his nearest convenience, wed 18/05/16. All good apart from water leaking badly now due to water pump failure. I need car for work and I am limiting my journeys. Is there anything at all I can do to reduce or slow down water leak from pump? My mechanic says no due to pump being a moving part. I would say I'm using 6 litres foe a 15-20 mile trip.

Thanks guys

Don't use the car, it'll only get worse. And you'll probably end up with a damaged head gasket if it boils, or a cracked block if you drop in cold water.

Another thing that might happen is that it could seize and snap the timing belt resulting in a potentially massive bill

Cheers lads I'll keep an eye and if it gets any worse I'll park her up. Mechanic might be able to get me in bit sooner fingers crossed
