Help needed please. Does anyone know how to connect to mirrorlink? I have a Samsung S6.

Many thanks will give it a go.

Can't get it to work. Once I plug my phone in I get a black screen and phone functions do not work.Does anyone else find this difficult and frustrating.

Tried it with my new LG G5 in my wife's Fabia and it doesn't work either. Starts connecting then nothing and it disconnects. As far as I know you don't need an extra app in these new phones for it to be working so go figure...  :|

S6 should probably be working, but for G5 I would probably ask the dealer about some firmware update of mirrorlink as it technically doesn't show as supported model (yet). So an update at some point might be required? Just a thought.

Try resetting SmartLink.

Go to Car - Setup - Factory Settings - Reset Individual Settings/data and then choose SmartLink.

We had had problems with this and the reset worked, so worth a try.

Tried it one more time in the afternoon and it worked. The trick was to change usb connection on the phone from 'charge only' to 'media transfer between units'. Although I think I tried that the first time around and didn't work. There was a software update of the G5 a few days ago so maybe mirrorlink update was included as well. You should give it a try with your S6 if you haven't already.

The G5 should be compatible with Android Auto. Search for Android Auto in the Play store, and install it. I don't think LG does MirrorLink.

MirrorLink and Android Auto are NOT the same thing. Some phones are compatible with both, and the Samsungs and Sonys are examples, but most are not compatible with MirrorLink. Android Auto should work with every Android phone with Android 5.0 onwards.

Well that's what I thought but currently G5 is NOT compatible with Android Auto. The application is not available for download with G5. MirrorLink however is already in the OS of the G5 under settings. The infotainment display in the Fabia also shows connection via MirrorLink while Android Auto is not active. I would prefer Android Auto though anyway or even better to have both options available.

Huh, that's weird. I thought the idea of Android Auto is that it's something the OEMs can't mess up! I wonder if it would be OK if you sideloaded the APK?

I'm kind of surprised that it's got MirrorLink compatibility, as I thought that was something Sony and Samsung were more keen on. But seeing as how much it's been slated by users, I never paid MirrorLink much attention.

Yes, it works, that's the only way to install the Android Auto app on most of the countries.

Yup- but does it work ok on the G5 or is the reason it's not showing in the Play store being that there's something preventing it from working right on the G5?

Got a reply from LG support and it says they tried and installed AndroidAuto app on theirs G5 without a problem. So after some more googling I found out that AndroidAuto is not available here in Slovenia. Pretty sure this is the reason it doesn't show in my google play store. I'll try sideloading it and see what happens.

Ah hadn't even realised that you weren't in the UK, even though it says clearly on your profile!

And it works   Sideloaded the app without a problem and it works with the car flawlessly. No idea why it isn't available in my country by default.

Edit: Looks and works much better than MirrorLink as well.

Fantastic! I think the reason is that Google don't want to provide tech support across loads of different languages.

Software licencing issues also. But it will become more widely available soon.

Even so the UI is completely in Slovenian without me setting anything. Installed, connected, everything displayed in my language from the start.
