Retrofits to 2012 vRS

Featured Replies

Hi. I have seen several posts on various retrofits so sorry if re posting however:-

I am after information as to if it is possible to retrofit:-

MFSW

Auto lights

Auto Wipers

Having just sold an Audi A5 to get the Octavia my wife misses these options. Dealers say none are possible. Is there anyone on here who has or can retrofit these for me/her please?? And any part numbers etc of parts required (sensors switches etc) I am an engineer so can cover/help with most of the fitting but software updates etc I have no access to

Any help appreciated. We are near Lincoln

All are possible, but need VCDS to code them in.  Good luck getting a 3 spoke MFSW VRS though - I got the last one I could find anywhere last week.  You can easily fit a 4 spoke MFSW instead.

For Auto lights/wipers, you need the new light switch, light sensor and a loom.

You need a VCDS scan of your car to find out what steering module you have.  You need the highline module for MFSW. Also depending on what part is already in, it may need steering angle looking at too.

Take a look at the VCDS owner's map, here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com/

I'm sure someone local to you would be able to help out, even in exchange for beer tokens.

All are possible and have done them to a Blackline

Adding a Mfsw can be quite expensive, depending on what sort you go for and what controller you have fitted

Just to add, if you haven't got a auto-dimming rear view mirror, you'll probably need a new windscreen with a different mount for the rain light sensor to get auto wipers/lights.

Not too much of a problem depending if your current screen has a crack and you have glass cover on your insurance.

Cheers for the answers. Still thinking about wether to bother with them

MFSW is definitely worthwhile. I did mine the expensive way (as usual for me) but it was because I wanted the standard 3 spoke VRS wheel, which cost £230 on its own!.  You can get 4 spokes cheaper, but used ones often crop up for £60 or less.
