hatch door lining

Featured Replies

hi all havn't been on here for a while but need some help, another rear wiper motor packed in -  the question is how do i remove the lining to get to the motor.

There's a screw where the rubber pull handle for the boot is attached and the rest are clips. Real PITA job.

Get some clips, some will break when you pull the thing off. Also you need to pull hard.

The only squeak in my car is coming from the lining of the boot.

I was all for taking it off and replacing all clips to see if that fixed things - reading the instructions on how to do it I decided to live with the squeak.

I did speak to my local dealership about them doing it for me - they said sure, but it'd be at least 2hrs of labour.

Thanks for the advice, will try tomorrow if the weather holds. sounds like a bitch of a job.

2hrs?  It's a 20-30m job in each direction.  you'll need some body lever / tool thingies.

that sounds much better, thanks brad - where is the best place to start levering.  and i dont mean in Australia

Shame you're in Australia. I'd happily pay you for an hour of your time at dealer rates to remove, replace all clips and replace it for me :)

I think I started near the latch.  You find the bit with the least amount of movement as that is closest to the attachment point.

I agree with mike - it's probably easier with the hatch closed / part closed and a helper.  I think I got one of my teenage kids involved when i took mine off (panel beater badly fitted it after a minor repair)
