Rapid - noise from behind

Featured Replies

Hi guys

There probably was a topic for this issue, but i'm too lazy to find it.

I have that sound coming from the back when i go over bumps on the road. It sounds like empty cup of yogurt rolling behind me. I thought it was that plastic cover that covers rear shock absorbers, but that would not make sense. They make slightly different sound when I'm listening it from inside of the car.

I let my friend drive my rapid while I was sitting behind and observe, but we still could not found source of that sound. I dropped seatback and put my head into the trunk and it seemed like the noise comes from the point behind carpeting where shock absorber is screwed to chasis.

Did someone had similar problem?

Not a noise I've encountered from mine (and I've had no shortage of unexplained rattles, clunks etc)

Are you sure it isn't just something rolling around in the spare wheel well?

Sent from my iPhone 6S Plus using Tapatalk, please excuse any typos.

I went to Skoda service for that to see what they will say about that, but they didn't find anything too. They also said that they had no reports for that kind of issue so far.

I checked around spare wheel, but everything seems firm and on it's place. Never had to use anything from there

Older Rapids making noises in the back needed adjustment to the rubber 'stops' of the boot. Is the noise present when driving with the boot open?

Thanks,it could be that because few days ago, in a hurry, i accidentally slammed the trunk really hard and today on my way home I noticed that the noise is somehow reduced. It was really hard to hear it, almost impossible. Could be that rubber adjusted it self or something.

I think i read about that boot thing somewhere before when i was searching for solution.

Can you please explain that a bit more? I think it might be that.

When I collected my Toledo it gave out a booming noise from the rear. Having read about the problem with some Rapids I more or less knew how to fix it.

I would liken the noise to when going over rumble strips on motorways or you have a rear window open slightly on the motorway. When certain speeds are achieved, in my case around 25-35 mph and sometimes above that say 50-60mph it give out this noise,  it could also be described as a buffeting noise too.

As said the hatch door has two bump stops, these need adjusting for a tighter closure of the hatch. You'll know when you have gone far enough, it will obviously need a little more effort to slam shut the hatch. Give it a go, worked for me and others, you might have just found you little niggly noise.

I'll give it a go. It must be that, because i checked almost everything besides the hatch, except i shaked it closed and open and everything seemed tight. But i'll adjust it for a tighter closure to be sure.
