Any of these possible?

  1. The steering wheel is a bit of centre -  too far left IIRC by say 1cm. Every now & then this annoys me. I know, I know....
    Is this adjustable?
  2. Having come from a manual gearbox, I crawl to near halt in Neutral. The foot brake light can come on before the car comes to a complete halt, making me brake before allowing me to move to D again. Pointlessly.
    Can this be tweeked?
  3. Is there a way to invert the 'gear shift' so up = down a gear?

Cheers !

LOVING my car btw.

1. Do you notice if the car pulls to the left when you let go?

It can be sorted, literally steering wheel off and move it round 1. You need to disconnect the airbag first though.

2. Don't think it can be tweaked but if you are over a certain speed, somewhere around 10mph (don't know exact digit) you can knock back into D.

3. I'm fairly confident this can't be done.

Answer to the first one.

If the car wanders to one side the tracking is out.

If the wheel isn't straight but the car is driving straight it probably means the tracking is fine but they didn't centre the steering wheel while adjusting it.

My steering wheel is the same. The tracking is fine so the steering wheel needs centering but I will double check at my local tyre shop first.

With regard to slowing I don't knock mine into neutral until the car comes to a stop otherwise I suffer same issue as you. I have noticed the DSG boxes in the cars I drive at work try to constantly pull away when in drive but stopped with the brakes on, you can hear the engine stressing, but my fabia doesn't do this. The work cars do get abused so this could be why.

I also know what you mean with inverted shifting, BMW do this and it feels more natural. I think over time I'll get used to the box. I do love the face I don't notice the up and down shifting when it's in drive, it's silky smooth!

Maybe do not crawl to a halt in 'N' then. Not a good practice with a DSG.  Do not select 'N' until stopped.

(not even coasting like lol-lol used to advocate.)

If you touch the brake it cuts power to the drive anyway.

Sometimes it comes crawling along above 6 mph in 2nd, then drops to 1st just before stopping.

If you just slightly touch the brake it usually drops to 1st.

I like the way the shifter moves for manual shifts,

it matches pulling the stick back to 'S' if using that for decelerating, or even crawling along in moving traffic.

Paddles are there if the Sticks moving the way it does for down a gear does not suit.

I dont mean tracking or rotation - sorry didn't really properly explain..  I mean physically the wheel is a bit off to one side compared to the instrument cluster! YOu can adjust height, reach, but not (AFAIK) left/right

Ahh I'm with you... Like the cluster has been removed and not put back properly causing it to be off centre?

You can have the front Alignment redone with the steering wheel where you want it, straight.

Or the  thing anyone suggesting gets flamed for, since the steering is fine and the steering angle sensor.

Move the wheel, just an ickle bit, airbag aware and all that stuff.

Exactly that.. but was thinking most likely its the wheel that's not been aligned .. would think the instrument cluster/dash cant have made wiggle room

Doh, sorry you mean the steering column is at a kilter....

That is your right hand drive car that was designed for left hand drives and they are like that.

Crash test dummy savers and stuff.

1. After a while you'll stop noticing - but thanks for reminding me. Doh!

Sorry! Only had the car a little while & it's bugging me. I draw technical illustrations for a living & it's all about alignment..
