Trackday Fun

Featured Replies

Tom,

You should have PM'd me, as I only live about 15/ 20mins away.

Would have been good to me up and have a pint and chat close by the circuit.

Glad you had a good day and the vRS performing well for you.

Some good photos.

Quick vid I put together:

Hi Tom,

I noticed you there on the day snapping away, not sure if we shared any track time but was nice to see my humble Clio pop up among all the Porsches in your photos.

Unfortunately my GoPro is knackered at the moment so I've no footage :( but the vRS looked well, I'm sure it raised a few eyebrows even if there was another estate car there - that BMW diesel was mental.

Cheers,

John

Cheers John, which Clio were you in? I'll have a look to see if I've got any footage of it :-)

Was a good day, weather decent too!

You are right about that 3-series estate. Sounded bonkers for a diesel.

Tom

That'd be great, thanks Tom. I was in the grey Clio 200, it pops up at near the end of your second video.

It was a really good day overall I thought, pretty much everyone was very well mannered on track, lots of fun.

That BMW turned out to be a highly tuned 335d running methanol injection, no wonder it was so quick.

Cheers,

John

Ah yes, I loved that grey Clio! Very smart indeed. Would love to have one as a track car. What mods have you done John? Can spot the cage and exhaust plus what looks like lovely Oz Ultraleggera wheels?

Thanks, I've only had it for about six months but I'm still over the moon with it. I've not done anything myself, but it's massively modified :)

As you say it's got the Akrapovic exhaust, cage and ultralagerra wheels. Under the skin it's got extra rear bracing, a tuned Megane R26 turbo engine, ceramic coated downpipe with sports cat, custom intercooler, Megane gearbox, quaife diff, big brake kit, ummm, I think that's about it. There are probably one or two other bits I've forgotten but nothing major.

Fantastic, bet it absolutely flies out on track :-)

Do you use it just as a track toy? Keep looking at Clio's for track use but haven't really got the space at the moment to store a third car!

It's an absolute little monster on track, really good fun. :)

It's purely a track/weekend toy. I do very occasionally commute in it but with the cage you really should be wearing a helmet to drive it or you're risking serious injury/death in even a fairly minor shunt. I've put some extra padding on the cage to mitigate that a bit but it's still a risk.

I started out with a 182 which was great, the 200 is just like the 182 but better in every way. I'm lucky in that the driveway can have two cars on it and the 200 just (only just!) fits in the garage.

It's off for a big service and cam belt change in a couple of weeks. That should be fun for my mechanic, it's quite tight in the engine bay :D
