Clutch Pedal Stuck

Featured Replies

2002 Octavia 1.8T 4x4

I had a shock this afternoon. Car been sitting in freezing weather so I warmed her up gently and waited till the windows were clear. Then set off. The clutch wouldn't return fully but just enough to change gear. At first I though it might be because I had my winter boots on!

Pulled over and had a look. Clutch pedal not in line. So I pulled it all the way up and it worked fine after that. But I have lost confidence.

Can one of you bright sparks tell me if any conclusion has been reached on this? I read some back threads relating to master/slave cylinder replacement, also reference to the spring, and low clutch fluid. However, not convinced since the freezing weather has brought this on. Strange since Skoda comes from an icy land!

If the fluid levels are fine then it's almost certainly the ?master cylinder, as you've found elsewhere on the board.

This happened in my Ovtavia LK 2 years ago though my clutch pedal stuck right to the floor. It was indeed winter time and a cold day. The AA man told me this was a common problem with VW and Sloda cars. The rubber master cylinder seal had become inverted as the pedal was pressed down. He pullled the pedal back and all was fine for several weeks until my dealer was able to replace it under warranty.

OK - so it is likely to be a clutch master cylinder problem. Has the design or parts on this been changed so that it doesn't happen any more? Can you advise how much this should cost?
