Headlights stopped turning...and more

Featured Replies

Coming home late last night, I noticed the headlights had stopped 'bending' around corners.

Lights switched to 'auto' as usual at night to activate this fine system.

Got home and thought I'd go into maxidot....is it still called that?....to check the staus on 'vehicle' settings.

It came up with the message 'NO ENTRIES AVAILABLE', in essence blocking me out of ALL vehicle settins.

Have I made some sort of a schoolboy error here, or to put it in a frank and non technical manner, is it goosed, and now requiring a dreaded trip to a dealer?

Please tell me that there is a quick fix for this hopefully common problem....... please, anyone!  :notme:

First thread below timed out when posted by the way, but it seems to have posted anyway!

Managed to somehow louse that up too it seems.

Mods please delete it, and sorry.

Make sure switch for lights is in auto not any other beam setting. Note that system needs certain speed to be reached to activate; going too slow > no cornering.

Your Maxidot is ok - calling "car" menu there shows only current alerts (i.e. no entries = all ok). For settings use your infotainment.

I was 'up to speed. usual route. I appreciate it doesn't work below about 10mph

Lights were on auto.

Settings is what I was attempting to get into, as I did when I got the car a week ago to alter certain settings to my taste, such as not wanting auto locking and headlights remaining on after you get out.

Everything was working fine until last night, and now instead of the list of things you can alter, as i said, it just comes up with the message. 'no entries available.

At the moment, i cannot now  change ANYTHING on the vehicle settings.

Just spoken to the supplying dealer, and was told to try doing adjustments through media on the  wireless as I prefer to call it.  :D

Not convinced this is going to work, but hey, got to try it  I suppose.

You're probably aware, but the adaptive lights are switched off in Eco mode.

You mentioned maxidot, and through maxidot you can see only list of alarms; for settings you need to go through infotainment / radio head unit.

btw, did someone else drive your car in the meantime? If I let anyone in (wife or any of parents) I always see that "improvement" was made, such as light permanently on or off rather than auto that I have switched on permanently.

NO!!

I will go and switch that off RIGHT NOW!

Doesn't flamin' do anything anyway imo.

You are talking about the vRS button for  that and sport etc.

Waste of time imo, so don't know why I bothered putting it onto that setting tbh

footnote....given up trying to understand the 'users manual'

You lot in here actually speak a language that everyone can usually understand, so why stress out with that thing that is now hanging underneath the toilet roll?

It was an e demo, so only the I.T. manager at the supplying dealer.

No one since I collected it

Yes the VRS button.  Obviously you can set the custom setting to have the engine in Eco mode but with the adaptive lights turned on.

You know that 'quick fix' I was asking about in my O.P.?  :sun:

I can't confirm right now as it's daytime, but later this evening.........

You could be in for a 'man hug' here!!  :D

Still don't understand why the 'vehicle settings on maxidot are coming up with 'no entries' though, as it gave me all the options a few days ago.

Still, I can access them all through 'the wireless' anyway now as now discovered.

You can't access vehicle settings through the maxidot, it only shows alerts on the car page, such as low fuel, oil, tyre pressure etc.

The full Car settings are on the Car menu on the radio.

Hi Adenuf,

As others are saying, the Maxidot does have a 'vehicle' setting that looks like this...

But only shows you issues or this...

The menu with all the options is in the big info screen, either in the cog or through the vehicle menu & then settings...

The Eco settings are obtained by pressing the 'i' button, which confirms the much lower setting for the lights..

Hope that helps! I'm off now to clean the apparent mountain of dust in my car that the camera shows up but looks ok in real life!

I could have sworn that I managed to use the maxidot for the vehicle settings last week, 99% sure, and that's why I went straight to it last night to see if something wasn't set correctly.

What actually is the point of it being on there if you cannot use it?

"No entries available" is exactly what I'm getting now too.

I'm baffled with myself. Do I need to go to the doc's p'raps?

All sorted anyway, but still can't see why the headlights done turn in this eco mode.

Do they really eat up that much power?

Still loving it though, even with all it's idiosyncrasies.

Headlights do not move when operating in tourist mode either - but the maxi dot should give you a warning every time you switch on ignition.
