Glow plug light

Featured Replies

On my skoda octavia vrs 2006 on my way home the glow plug light started flashing and then 15 miles later it is joined by the engine management light looking for soma advice as to what the issue is

  • 2 weeks later...

Could be an injector or pump/injector(pumpe/duse on German)system or glow plugs itself.I'm guessing only. You should check(read)  the car with  VAG COM diagnostic tool for related errors and then after to find the issue. Everything else is just "shooting at the dark"!

The glow plug doesn't necessarily mean you have a glow plug issue. The glow plug light is a fault indicator. Coupled with the engine light means you have an electrical fault related to the engine.

I had the exact same symptoms, turned out to be the Mass Air Flow Sensor is either dirty or has gone. An easy repair if you're hands on. You will however need VAGCOM to delete the fault.

Could be a simple blown bulb. Seen this on golfs when brake light bulbs blow
