Brake light starts lighting when the engine is switched off

Featured Replies

Several times, the brake lights on my Octavia has started light up in the middle of the night, when the engine is off.

The result is a dead battery that I need to charge.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Does the rear washer work properly?

I had the washer pipe leak in the boot and the joint is right by the connectors for all the rear lights etc. Cue electrical craziness.

Or the brake light switch may be faulty.

Agree, light switch. Just unplug the switch during the night to see what will happen.

Actually, the rear wiper stopped working some days ago. Maybe it got something to do with that..? I´ll try to unplug the brake light switch, and see what happens.

Check the spare wheel well, is it full of water / screenwash?
