"Engine" light on...

Featured Replies

Manual says it's down to some electronic issue. Skoda computer says "unknown coolant problem". Recommends fault reset, drive until light comes on again - which is what we are doing.

Just wondered if anyone else had hit this one and had any potential causes...?

Cheers!

Can you get someone with VAG-COM to read the codes. If you are in the area at all over the weekend gimme a shout and i'll have a look for you.

'puter at Skoda (presume VAG-COM) said unknown cooling system prob...

Ta for reading :)

Looks like it's just a waiting game then.

I had similar.... I think the fault code was 17704. I had a few problems with the cooling system on my last Octavia RS. Firstly the thermostat & water pump seized up (thermostats are common problem aparantly). I had the coolant reservoir bottle and sensor replaced later to remove the fault code, and sometime later the engine temp. sender was replaced.

Don't know if the above will be of use to you, but if you can get the fault code number, it might point you on the right track.
