2011 vRS 2.0 TSI Mk2 FL Estate - Undertrays

Featured Replies

What undertrays are fitted to these normally?

I'm not asking for every bit of plastic but there is a Engine Splash Guard and then the plastic side runners along the length of the vehicle below the sills.  I thought I also had a central undertray covering most of the length of the vehicle in the central area i,e. covering central tunnel for exhaust etc.

However, now I've got it back from Bodyworks to remove some crinkles there is no central plastic tray.  Just trying to work out if  I was imagining a central tray of or if they have failed to refit.  I've only had the car for a bit over a month BTW in case your wondering about my lack of familiarity.

Thinking about my comments critically I'm not sure how a central plastic tray would cope beneath exhaust anyway..  maybe I am imagining it...

Thanks

I'm thinking there is no central plastic underbody tray along the midline of the vehicle, Just the two on either side of the car along the length of the sills. Plus the engine splash guard at the front.  Obviously, my memory failing me.

Please can anyone care to confirm?

Thanks

I don't think a piece of plastic running down the centre of any car by the exhaust system is a good idea. It would melt

There is no central undertray that I'm aware of, however there is reflective heat shielding around the drive shafts and along the exhaust centre section. There is a black, plastic undertray under the engine bay, which is really just designed to stop stuff flying up into the engine bay and give a small layer of protection to the sump. There are about £58 to replace from memory.

Yes, thanks both. Thought that what I was thinking didn't make much sense when I was getting to the end of writing it. Thanks for confirming.  Have slapped myself a few times for suggesting such silly things and also my recollection is not what it should be!!

Still have the heat shielding and the side trays and the engine splash guard so think all is on order. Thanks again for replying.
