More gearbox issues

Featured Replies

Having had trouble with the manual gearbox, since I bought the car arrived Christmas, such as extreamaly notch 1st to 2nd shift, I decided to take the car to the dealer, and the car was OK, sods law or what.

Now I have a different issue, it now feels vague in a few gears, the change is very soft quite different from last month still notchy in 1 to 2st. The car has only 4k on it. I was leaving a duel carriage way and tried to put it into 3rd and it felt dodgy I had to use more force to get it in gear.

Has any one had similar issues,

I've not had issues on my vRS but my last car (Insignia) had the gear linkage replaced twice because with similar issues.

Might not be the gearbox, not sure what you mean by feels soft, do you mean easy to move into gear.

My thought is gear linkage needs sorting or the clutch cylinder is playing up.

I'm tending to go with clutch problem from your description and the slave cylinder fault seems likely

Hi thanks for the responses

I think it's just a bad design of gear box, when I say soft, I mean like the gear stick is in tar moving into gear. It seems to be a gear box that's very sensitive to ambient temp. This is the first car I have driven with such an unpleasant experience chainging gear

I've had to adjust a not of gear linkages to get them working 100%

Try and locate a dealer with a manual demo car. Compare the two to see whether your cars box is noticeably different.

I'm sure the advice I have had of the forum members is correct regarding the linkages. The problem arises when I try and convince the dealer, I get blank looks.

Cheers for the replys
