1.8t 4x4 running on 3 cylinders and then none.

Featured Replies

Hi all.
I had a bit of a misfire the other day, took the plugs out to see if I could see what cylinder it was and found cylinder 3 spark plug very sooty. Assuming it was a dying/dead coil pack, I put it all back together again as I needed to use the car to go get one (not ideal I know, but the only transport i currently have).

It now won't fire at all, I'm assuming having seen threads about the coil pack loom that moving it to take the packs and plugs out I've disturbed it enough that it now won't work at all. The one slight worry is the diagnostics can't see the ECU now... I'm hoping it's because the battery is a bit low, but worryingly I can still interrogate the 4x4 system, and that has a fault code of "no communication with ECU"...

Has anyone got any ideas how taking the plugs out and putting them back in could have knackered the car? Could the coil pack loom have shorted out and blown the ECU?

Cheers

Bob

Check your fuses.

Check your fuses.

Cheers mate I always forget fuses!

Fuse 10 gone typical it's one of the mini ones, I haven't got any of those kicking about... I'll grab some later and try and find out why it blew  :wonder:  Anything common that blows them, or do you think it could have been when I was checking the plugs?
