Another newbie here - Octy fan

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Looking to sell my Picasso in 2006 to buy an Octy - either an Elegance or vRS Estate. Was seriously looking at a new Altea 2.0TDi but reading the Seat Cupra forums, it seems to have a fair few niggles.

Just got the New Octy Vrs publicity booklet in the post today - a small booklet called "The Strange Case of Dr. Skoda & Mr vRS. Weird story but some real tasty piccys of a black vRS Hatch and an Estate in it. I will be taking them up on a test drive offer!

So if you see anybody staring lovingly and dribbling at a vRS in Essex, I'm not nicking it....just sizing up my next purchase!

Happy New Year to all

Darryl

Welcome to Briskoda and enjoy your test drive. :D

Hi Darryl, Welcome to Briskoda. Personally I didn't rate the Altea. Went for the Octy which is in a different league on the quality front.

Hi Jonny. Thanx for the info. Did you own an Altea?? Any problems with it?

I'm out looking at both next weekend, but 95% certain it's gonna by an Octavia.

I test drove the 1.9 and 2.0 TDi's. Had the 1.9 out for a couple of hours. Good spec but very plasticky, lots of rattles and the glove box wouldn't stay closed. Wasn't even thinking about an Octy until a friend mentioned it so test drove it the same day as the Altea. The Octy is a much more solid car in my opinion. It also has as good a spec as the Seat but with better plastics, more comfort and to be honest it even felt a little quicker.

My thoughts without driving either. Altea looks nice, plenty of room, but Octavia seems to get rave reviews wherever I look. Will do the dealers this weekend weather permitting.

Thanks for your tips.
