Octavia Scout (2010) EGR valve

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue on a Scout. We had just the valve changed a week ago at a cost of £800, but it has been running like a pig ever since. The glow light comes on then the engine management light and we lose power. It also coughs constantly... We believe that it really needs the whole unit replacing but gave been advised that it would take 2-3 days as the car is 4x4, so will cost much more - has anyone had this wonderful experience and if so how much can we expect to pay?

Thanks in advance

Not in a Scout, but ours went at the 80k mark. Same price but Skoda UK paid for the part (goodwill) as we had main-dealer FSH (price dropped to labour + VAT; £600. The 4x4 prop-shaft/diff does get in the way and the Labour costs increase as a result).

TBH if it were me I'd get a second opinion on having to replace more than just the valve - could be whoever has done the work to date hasn't done it as per the manual.

Is it CR or PD ?

Thanks, you're probably right!

We were driving from Northampton to Oban, and the car broke down in Dumbarton. Main dealer was too far to limp to so we found a local VW specialist who did the work, even working through the night so we could catch the ferry... However, as nice and helpful as he was, it's dubious that he even had the manual, let alone used it!
