Gone and got an Xbox 360

Featured Replies

Was in Luton town centre today, and happened to be in Game (arndale centre) and yep they had some Xbox 360 Premium packs delivered this morning. So it had to be done, I now have an Xbox 360 Premium pack with PGR 3 Racing. The picture on my 42" plasma TV, connected via the component cable on the HDTV setting is amazing.

They still had some left at lunchtime, but they were selling fast.

What games did you get?

Call of duty does look nice , but at twice the price of the PC version it should do.

Think I'll wait a while before deciding if I need one of the latest consoles

I only got the one, Project Gotham Racing 3.

The main use, if I can get it to work properly is going to be as an extender to Mediacenter. I have that all hooked up and connected, but as yet cant get live tv working. Everything else works, playing recorded TV etc.

The picture is amazing, much better than the PS2.

I agree the 360 is an absolute fantastic peice of kit, PGR3 is amazing -- the Nurburgring is a lot more challenging than PS2 or Xbox versions == the track is a lot narrower and seams to be more bumpy -- i.e more realistic I spose(never been)

I also got Tiger Woods 2006 -- good but bloody difficult to master the shots - then again I spose thats like the real game !

I have Call of Duty 2 as well - and it's --- SCARY -- through my surround sound and on the 36" screen -- get's the old ticker going I can tell you

All credit to Microsoft they really have moved the game on with the 360.

Just to add, I think as a games console the 360 is superb.

However, that said as a mediacenter extender its not that good. HDTV output is limited to 60hz, thats fine for games and makes a lot of difference. BUT its no good for UK TV which runs at 50hz, the consequence is that TV/Video through the xbox is jumpy due to the 50-60hz conversion.

Needless to say, if I cant improve the situation I may well sell the beastie as it cant do one of the things I want it to very well.

briskoda bay strikes again, i'll start biffing at £13.27 :D

Think I'll wait for the PS3 to come out! I ain't gonna be lining Bill Gates pockets with any more money than I have too!!!!
