Washers not working - MOT fail

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm new here and have an Octavia Mk1 VRS estate. It's just failed it's MOT as the washers don't work. I've checked the pump and it works when connected directly to 12v.

I've replaced the wiper stalk and it's no different.

Wipers front and rear work fine but no washer. No voltage arriving at the pump.

I've checked all the fuses and they are intact.

Am I missing something basic and stupid?

Thanks

Matt

Its probably the rear washer motor has failes due to corrosion as a result of the not great design. It can cause all sorts of issues - my rear shorted out such that yhe front wipers came one morning and wouldnt go off.. had to pull yhe front fuse until i got to work. Then pulled the rear fuse and replaced front - all good.

So, try removing the rear wash/ wiper fuse or disconnect it and see if the fronts work then?

Sorry to bump your thread.

Good to know as my rear doesn't work. I thought it was just blocked and ran off the front one but as you said it is separate. ( assuming the estate is the same design as mine)
