Nokia 6310 - Reseting security code is it possible

Featured Replies

Without resetting everything on the phone ?

I switched the Phone book from Phone memory to Sim and when I tried to change it back I was asked for the security code (and don't seem to have the right one  ).

Have you changed it or is it the default? If its default, how old is it?

Try nokiafree.org Colm. A forum for all nokia phones. You may get the answer there.

Its an old phone, its not the default as I do know what I changed it to, but really haven't a clue why it won't take it now (for some reason it has changed).

The defaults were always either 12345 or 00000 weren't they ? It is 5 digits isn't it ? I tried so many codes last night and they wouldn't work, I can't reset to factory codes cos it needs the bloody security one. Is there a limit to the number of times incorrect security code is tried (it didn't lock out for that, yet).

I was thinking about locking my pin out by incorrectly putting it in a couple of times and then using the PUK code but not sure it that will reset the security one (also I'm not 100% sure if I have that either, but the Network can reset that :) )

Do you have a PC cable for the phone? When I had older Nokia phones, I used www.logomanager.co.uk software to upload graphics and ringtones, and that included a part of the software that displayed the security code. It's not that hard to uncover. I've not used this in ages, and might now support a Bluetooth connection if your PC is equipped. IR (infrared) also used to work as connection method, maybe if you're using a laptop??

The security code is completely separate from the PIN/PUK codes, as these relate to your network (so if you get in a mess the provider can always bail you out :))

Alternatively, a phone unlocking shop would be able to tell you the code, if you don't have a cable. But then again they might be a bit reluctant as they might assume that you could have nicked the handset

Good luck!

Sorted now  I thought I had tried all combinations of the number I had changed it to, but this afternoon I tried them again and got it :D Just goes to show sometimes your better off leaving things for a while and come back with a clear head (btw before the smart comments - I don't drink  )
