UNpairing phone from BT / Columbus

Featured Replies

My wife's mobile phone is paired with the Columbus since she wanted to listen to some music on her phone and the Columbus happily connected it as a player. Everytime she is in the car the Columbus connects to her phone and her music as a default and preference. I tried to unpair the player but it is not allowed as it is also recognized as a phone. I do not know whether this is one of these ICE settings.

Does anyone know how to unpair things recognized as phone from the Columbus?????

There is a setting somewhere for Bluetooth autoplay. If you turn this off it won't automatically Start playing when it connects. Think if you press the setup button then under media perhaps.

You can do it from the phone side. What phone does she use?

She likes her BT on because she uses a fancy BT watch .... I know / she knows that you can turn the BT off on the phone and that is what we do when she is in the car, but I want the car to not automatically use her phone by default.

The manual says that the car will attempt to connect to the last phone connected when the ignition is switched on and if that is not successful it will go down the list to the next one and so on. Is your BT on all the time and was your phone the last one?

I know you know that you can turn off the BT, everyone does, and that's not what I suggested you to do.

You did not answer what phone your wife has, but with certain phones you can also choose which services to use (HF, A2DP) with each device paired (watch, car, dongle etc).

Thanks Phil-E,

I checked the Setup / Media settings and the box for BT auto play was ticked. So hopefully the unticking will stop it.

My wife has a fairly simple Medion smartphone. Which one exactly I cannot remember.

That should work. It will still automatically connect but won't then just start playing music from the phone. If the Radio was selected previously for instance this will continue to play even once the phone has connected. You can then manually switch to Bluetooth input and start the music playing. Hopefully this solution will work for you.

Assuming that is is Android-based, go to Settings->Bluetooth, find your car's bluetooth name on the list, click on the little gear by it and untick any service you don't want. It should list the Phone audio, the Media audio and the Contact sharing services.

I will check it when I get my hands on it.

When I was in the car's Media settings, I noticed the Setup / Phone / Factory Reset.

Does anyone know, if I click factory reset, whether it would delete only phone data or whether any other HiFi settings would also be deleted?
