Rear wheel/brake noise?

Featured Replies

Can hear this kind of whirring noise coming from the rear of the car, can't really make out what it is, car seems fine nothing's changed or got worse.

It's not a constant noise it's more like something on the wheel that gets caught at a certain point, if you know what I mean? Any help would be awesome!

Does the noise change if you go round a corner at normal speed?

1 - Try it both ways, (at normal speeds)  and report back.

2 - If the noise is constantly there - apply a little gentle handbrake momentarily as you go along, and see if the noise changes in any way, and report back.

Have tried all of this, noise is always there at the lower speeds but either it gets quieter louder or I just can't hear it.

I've tried the handbrake and the noise stays even with it applied gently

Time to have a mechanic check things then, or someone with some technical knowledge.

I take it the rear drums have not been off and cleaned out and inspected, checked that there is not a broken spring because there were a few with broken springs and there is a TPI on them.

Might be a wheel bearing, jack up rear and pull/push wheel, if it seems to move around (like the bolts aren't in properly) wheel bearing.
