replacement car for the fabia??

Featured Replies

Just been trying to find possible replacement cars for Gayles Fabia vRS and came across this one, VW Bora, what do you all think?

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=VOLKSWAGEN&model=BORA&variant=tdi&keywords=black&min_pr=10000&max_pr=13000&mileage=2&agerange=1&postcode=ml8+5ew&miles=40&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH

PS how do you give a link a name instead of the whole URL appearing:confused:

thanks:D

Test drove a 150 Sport a couple of months ago and it was an understated fun car. Had lots of toys fitted and looked a reasonable second hand buy. Not sure what the 100 Sport would be like though.

its down on power and has 5spd box but has a few extra toys and power can be sorted easy enough. just not heard much about bora's really

I had a little fun with a remapped Bora. Couldnt get past it in the Octy but I think I would have had the edge in a drag race.

Very nice looking cars, lots of mods available if thats your bag.

Enormous boot.

i may have just found a gem PD130, Black, cruise, elec window x4, climate, leather, parking sensors, Heated seats, ESP, 6400miles. £12995(deal can be done)

The Bora is a much overlooked car -- I personally think they handle better than the equivalent Golf -- probably due to the extra weight over the rear.

If you can get the 130 rather than 100 I think that would be a sensible move -- still plenty of options for more power if needed

Kenny, have a look on Scottish vag, a very nice Bora for sale in Falkirk area, are you looking for a garage or private sale.

need to be garage, as we would trade the fabia in

Nice and totally anonymous.Which is good.

The Bora is very underrated. Well built, huge boot, handles better than the Golf and it's a good motorway cruiser. I ran a 1.6 for 4 years, it was quick enough but more power would have been nice so I'd be inclined to go for a PD130 rather than the 100.

went to see a PD130, was very impressed, fingers crossed :)

Been thinking.

Is this because of all the problems Gayle had with the Fabia, Kenny (car and dealer)?

It is a shame she had a bad time.Fabia vRS really is a great package however nice the Boras are.Is there anything else she would fancy? (£12995 opens up an awful lot of cars that might be more fun)

sadly yes its down to the problems, hey she may still keep it if money doesnt work out. but and its a big but, there wont be another fabia, good package and we may have had a bad one, sadly we arent the only ones who have(only need to look at "ask a tech" )

the main reason for the bora was that she liked it, its a PD130 too so performance will be pretty similar(not the same before a mad fabia owner jumps on that ;) )but it isnt far away from the price of a new fabia and the spec isnt in the same league to be honest

your right under £13k does bring alot of good cars but they needed to have very good mpg and warranty.

but yeah its a shame how it may turn out :(

had a pd130 as a hire car when us lads went to the mull rally 2yrs ago, i think handles alot better than a golf. thats just my view tho..

Well if all goes according to plan(fingers crossed) I will be saying goodbye to my furby next friday with a little tear in my eye but saying hello to my new bora. I will be sad to see the furby go in one way as I have enjoyed having it but I wont miss the trips back and forward to the garage with it. So I guess I'll be looking at selling the S3 wheels as well if anyones interested including tyres:)
