Wont fire

Featured Replies

Wont start. Bugger. Battery OK. Cranks strongly just wont fire. No warning lights on dash & no error codes on breakdown chap's tablet. Fuel is getting through OK he reckoned (smoke from exhaust & could smell it). Breakdown bloke had a good look in the engine bay & nothing obvious.

Will be looking to get it trailered to a local VAG Indy tmrw but wondering if anyone's got any thoughts?!

Cheers

Immobiliser.

Got it trailered away early hours now back with MDM technik. I'd be 'pleased' if its the security system & nothing mechanical

Either contaminated fuel, or (and I fear this is a possibility) I put V Power diesel in the thing. Getting sorted anyhow & using it as an excuse to put fresh spark plugs in also. He's a REVO guy so knows what to use.

Do you mean that he will be fitting what REVO recommend as the plugs to use.

Surely if it is Running a REVO Stage 2 Map that is what is in.

(Short lasting life sadly when running a REVO Map, and best to maybe use DENSO Plugs.)

Where they not checked at the last fiasco when the Intercooler pipe was off?

I dont know what plugs are currently in - not checked Andy's servicing paperwork but it was previously looked after by Votex that I gather know their stuff

.. but - no - seems the plugs didnt get changed during the recent service. Bit surprised.

I did ask for 'the biggest service - dont hold back' but doesnt seem that was done.

Well done me. Looking likely I fuelled the poor thing incorrectly.

Did you drive back home with diesel in too?

Yup. Surprised it made it. It's needed a good few hour to sort though. ££££

Hope it's not as costly as I'm imagining :(

We'll see...

I really took the p*** out of a pal that one poured oil in his radiator . That'll teach me.

how did you get the diesel nozzle in a petrol filler neck??

it physically shouldn't fit

That's what I was thinking.

And FYI the immobiliser won't stop the engine from starting, it stops it running.

I'm now tempted to try that :) - although obviously not pull the trigger!

I moved from a diesel to a petrol and five years on I still stare at the pump handle when I'm filling up to make sure it's the right juice.

It did fit, albeit with a quarter turn to get it in IIRC

I shall be doing a LOT more hard staring from now on.

Embarrassed & gutted in equal measure
