How do you get to the internal fuse box?!

Featured Replies

Hi all

The 12v socket in the centre console has stopped producing any power and I assume it's the fuse.

Manual says it has its own and is in the internal fuse box.

But how on earth do you get to it?!

I've followed the poor excuse for diagrams in the manual but still can't get it open!

Any clever ideas?!?

Open passenger door. Locate panel on side of dash. Use something soft and slender to remove panel and lift away from door seal. Open glove box and look over the rear left hand corner you will see the hook that is used by the soft opening mechanism. You will need to attck from the side where you removed the panel, through a small hole using a screw driver or similar and lift that hook off its post. The glove box then pulls upwards and pops off. Fuse box is behind that.

I know. Ridiculous.

And as the Haynes manual would say, reassembly is the reverse procedure.Or words to that effect.

You'll find that getting it back on is either a piece of cake or a pain in the posterior.

Nice one! Thanks all.

Felt ridiculous even asking, but seems not so ridiculous after all!

Wow. Just watched that YouTube clip. That's insane.

Also just watched the video - "SKODA simply clever"!!!!!!!!!

Hope I never have to get access to the fuses. Some of the pushing & clicking I am sure the plastic clips would snap off if I tried it.

It looks worse than it is. Piece of cake in reality.

Ridiculous, but at least you do get a decent sized glove box.

There's an excellent Youtube video by Chris Horswill on changing the pollen/cabin filter in the Octavia III, which shows the best way of removing and refitting the glovebox - i.e. without having to remove or gain access via the side panel.
