Wheel Bearing & Hub (Stripped thread)

Featured Replies

Well, I have managed to cross thread one of the wheel bolt holes on the front passenger side, so need to replace it.

Is this what I need?

More than likely replacing both sides as I do have a faint grumble noise from somewhere.

Yes they are the ones but they need to be fitted with the proper tool as they can't be pressed in by the flange as they are Gen 2 bearings. If they get pressed in by the hub flange they will be ruined.

That's it, also need the correct tooling to change it.

Something like that. Avoid cheap bearings, they last five mins. I paid £115 for a gen bearing as I only wanted to do it the once.

Driveshaft can be tight to come out as its bonded in, we had this tool at the dealer.

New driveshaft nut required, tighten to 55 Nm plus 45 degrees.

Cheers,

just making sure that they were the correct items, going to get my usual guy to fit them, driveshafts should be too bad as I have not long since had both CV boots changed.

Found some Continental Contitech ones for £35 per bearing/hub

When you say hub flange, do you mean the centre bore flange or the part which gets the wheel bolts?

EDIT: Just watched this so know what you mean now.

I wish they fell out like that one in the video lol.

Looks like one on the demo videos I did in my last job at JLR, every nut and bolt was already loose and prepped before I started filming lol
