Front Brake Pads That Wont Rattle!

Featured Replies

Please recommend me some front brake pads that dont cost the earth and wont rattle their whatsit's off when driving down a bumpy or cobbled street.

Tried Bosch and dealer ones along with cheaper options ie drivetec and still with this sodding rattle!

Should the anti rattle clip rest against the pad? Checked some images online and it doesn't look like they should, they just hold the caliper to the carrier as mine do. The clips are new too.

I'm starting to lose the plot!

The rattle stops when I left foot brake while driving down the road so it's definately pad/caliper related and seems to be drivers side.

Thanks,

Ade.

Hmm, never had this issue so can't comment. Had plenty of standard Pagid too (from Euro) as well as Ferrodo DS2500's.

I take it you've been mapped to allow left foot braking then. The one thing I wish I'd done. :(

I wish, it dies when I touch the brake! Didn't know that could be mapped out though.

Not tried Pagid, and the DS2500's are a tad out of my price range [emoji12]

Thanks for the reply.

Pagid

mine are doing that too...had Ferodo before, and now Pagid, but still rattle.

Worn carriers would be my suspect.

Worn carriers would be my suspect.

Agreed. Unless someone has been over zealous with a brake file when cleaning them up before now.

Right, I fitted a set of Pagid pads about 500 miles ago, as soon as they were fitted the rattling was cured - hallelujah!

But 500 miles in and the rattle has started again.

I noticed when swapping the pads that where the pad sits in the carrier it was a little worn and shiny looking, so i'm guessing the carriers may well be suspect as said before.

Would it make any difference if I got them re enamelled/painted/powder coated?
