Few Questions About Performance Parts

Featured Replies

Hello! Hoping you can help.

I have a MK2 Fabia vRS, which, engine/performance wise, currently has an APR Stage 1, a Forge Intercooler and a GFB DV+.

I'm looking at a couple of other mods for my car now and wanted to know a little bit about them.

Firstly, something like this:

http://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/milltek/milltek-downpipe-options-skoda-fabia-vrs-1-4tsi/

What difference would a mod like that make to power and noise? Obviously i'd like to increase both (noise only to a certain extent) - are there cheaper options than miltek? I would like a sports cat/to keep the cat, i don't want to go de-cat and have trouble with MOT's etc. I know some people just remove the centre silencer is it? to increase the noise, but i was thinking about any possible performance increases too.

Secondly, are forge/samco boost and coolant hoses worth having? Or is it more of a visual thing to spruce up the engine bay?

In regards to handling, my car has got the Bilstein B12 kit and a H&R RARB. Would this front anti roll bar (FARB?) compliment things and improve handling?

Thanks for any comments, suggestions and advice :)

Would this just be worth posting in the MK2 Fabia section instead?

It will get seen there by mmmRacer, newbie69 & vRSGeo who have some of the most modified twinchargers on the forum in the past couple of years and have Stage 1 or Stage 2.

Great. Would an admin/mod be able to move this to the Fabia 2 section at all please?

Itg maxogen kit increases noise and performance

Thanks - I haven't forgotten about induction. I'm not really a big fan of the ITG Maxogen. I know people have got results from it but I want to go down the route of the VWR Polo kit that takes the air from the slam panel as the current OEM air box does. Need to either turn the battery around or fit a smaller one, so that's in my plans for the near future. Wanting a bit more exhaust-y noise though!

Spoke to someone at Awesome GTI about the downpipe and i hadn't thought about the fact that it wouldn't fit to the standard exhaust system. Would only work with a full Miltek system which I'm not sure I want to go down that route and expense.

firstly there are some cheaper jetex exhaust options... not sure if this is the right downpipe part... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-5J-vRS-2010-1-4L-TSi-180bhp-Jetex-Exhaust-Racepipe-2010-J113-/171435480483?hash=item27ea59d5a3:g:VX4AAOSwQItT~JIX but they are out there... it will make it loader and much more free flowing, so should increase power and driveability .... (edit its not, its a cat back part.... the part you posted (downpipe+ s[ports cat) would be better!!!

secondly I had the H&R front anti roll bar (and the rear H&R anti roll bar) ....

it did help the handling... made the car even flatter than just with the rear, I also bought some polybushes for the FARB too........ I would recommend them both.... when I do the roll bars on my octy i will do front and rear :)

was really happy with it when it was done... now being enjoyed by another brisky member.... I may yet buy it back! lol...

Oh yeah, forgot about that!   So, FARB, some kind of exhaust system possibly, and new air intake is on the shopping list..  May just take out the silencer in the middle yet as others have done, not sure yet.

Thanks sharkrider - how come you took off the roll bars then?

yup, sold, all mods in place, new owner loves it :)
