Flat battery - windows now possessed by demons

Featured Replies

I did a silly and left the car too long with the dash camera inside whilst working abroad

When I return the battery is completely flat, no life in any electronics or remote locking

Charge the battery and the car is now back to life, but one of the rear windows has decided to operate in reverse

As such, when the door switch is pushed for up it goes down and vice-versa, this happens when using either the rear door switch or the master switch in the drivers door

It also behaves the same way using the keyfob "all up" or "all down" function, ie: 3 windows go one way and this one goes the other

Short of disconnecting the battery and resetting it all again, anybody have any ideas or experienced the same?

This seems to be a common problem with VW/Skoda cars with low batteries or after jump starts.

In most cases, it appears that the rear window module gets replaced to resolve this. I suspect it might be possible to correct the settings in the module using dealer tools as I know on the front window modules the window direction can be set via the controllers EEPROM.

Disconnecting the battery probably won't help from what I've seen. If you can find a friendly dealer, they maybe able to re-adapt the controller and correct the direction.

I'm sure one person took the module apart and reversed the connections to the motor inside to 'fix' this.

Thank for the post - as for Skoda well that's useful!!

I'm used to breaking things going in and messing around, but this time I didn't do anything  :dull:

Have you tried a "Reset", as in ensuring all windows closed, unlock using key only (not remote), disconnecting then reconnecting the battery and then performing the reset for the windows in accordance with the manual after removing/replacing battery?

I had a similar issue with one of my rear windows opening on its own when I remotely locked the doors, after recharging battery off the car, but not following the correct Reset for electric windows and central locking (plus the additional short drive to clear the ABS lights etc).
