Electric Mirrors not working

Featured Replies

Hi All,

ever since I've owned my fabia the electric mirrors haven't worked (good job im the same height as previous owner haha)

I've checked the fuse and replaced the switch but is there anything else I can quickly look at without taking door cards etc off? heard they're a right pain

not really heard of anyone else having the same problem so any help is appreciated

Mine stopped when the wire inside the door snapped after a previous botched repair. Not saying mine is better but it is at least soldered and inside Heat shrink now. It is the blue plug on the door check I believe and i think it was a blue wire with a black strip. It split in two and one went to the window motor which makes me wonder if it was the mirror wire. Either way once I fixed it it started working again. Maybe just coincidence but just a heads up.

Door cards are **** easy to take off mate once you get the right tools. Torx screwdriver, Philips and either a flat screwdriver with a dishcloth over the end or a trim remover. 3 torx screws in the bottom, one inside the door handle behind the mirror switch. 3 cross headed screws inside the door pull, accessed by removing the electric windows switch cover and then slide back the rear section of the door pull cover, and prise it off around the edges to pop of the trim clips. Hint: Get more trim clips before you start, they go brittle and are prone to breaking.

Like Jaspire says you might want to check all of the electrical connections to the mirrors first. If this is all ok then make sure that the switch is working. If it's the switch then it's fairly cheap and simple to fix. If all of those are fine then it could well be a failed mirror motor.
