cluster issue

Featured Replies

wonder if anyone can help with a problem I seem to have gotten since a breakdown,

my 06 laurin&klemmit estate is now fully repaired and resprayed and fully road legal.

1st day on road I suffered a breakdown which turned out to be a fuel problem, the filter housing decided it didn't want any fuel to pass through it and obviously car stalled and wouldn't restart, so while finding the problem and trying to start the engine the battery went flat, so put on a spare battery my mate had, fitted new filter and filter housing, car started and everything was hunky dory ,or so I thought, now  turning the ignition on my temperature and fuel gauge do a sweep, like staging, and also now my time on the cluster doesn't save after each ignition cycle, and the display also now goes off instantly after the ignition is turned off, it didn't do this previously, the time ect stayed on even after the ignition was off and key removed

any ideas how to rectify this

thanks

just did a scan with vcds and the fault I get for the cluster issue is 01317 control module in instrument cluster (j285)   004 no signal/communication - intermittent

anyone any ideas how to resolve??

The cluster has two power sources

Switched live and permanent live

You need to check the fuse for the permanent live

thankyou for your promt response

where is the fuse located, engine bay or inside car, exact location would be a great help

would some other electric items in the car not function if the fuse was blown,

or doesn't the cluster permanent live share the fuse with other equipment, and is independent??

Right I've sorted my issue

Whilst me and my pal were fault finding when I broke down, another pal had pulled up and was checking engine bay fuses

What he had done during this is put the fuse back in the wrong place

Lucky enough I had my memory jogged today whilst checking fuses in the dash fuse board that he'd been messing there

And I placed the fuse back in the correct position

Phew all sorted I thought the cluster was on its way out

Thanks Eddie nl for pointing me in the right direction
