Coil pack replacement - 2006 2.0T

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've not long had my 2006 TFSI VRS (100k+)

Day after I got it, it went into "limp home mode". Turns out no.4 coil pack went so that go replaced.

The hard part was sorting it out with my 3rd party warranty and the garage.

Now 2 weeks later and again, either the same coil pack has gone or a different one. Under warranty I would have to replace each one at a time at and £30 a time for excess.

After a bit of research many argue that its best practice to replace all coil packs if one goes. I've look online and come across only really one that's on offer and im curious if anyone has any recommendations. They look relatively easy to replace and I'm considering doing the work myself.

TL;DR does any one have experience replacing coil packs and should I replace them all.

Did all mine on 2010 VRS, ordered new coil packs and plugs from Awesome GTI, took about 30 mins to do. Have a look on YouTube as there are plenty of videos showing how to do it. It is very straightforward.

Thanks for reply. Did you get an engine light and if so, did the light disappear by itself or did you have to get it wiped?

No permanent engine light,it would flash on and off when misfiring under load but ease off the power and it would run ok and the light would go off.

Get the red top R8 coil packs from AKS bout 80 quid for 4

Do the spark plugs at the same time.  Either NGK or Denso Iridium
