Elegance 1.9Tdi variable service - cambelt due when?

Featured Replies

Had my Octavia Elegance 1.9TDi for just coming on a month now, have done about 1250 miles in it, and I'm wondering when the belt is due to be changed.

The service book shows it was last in at *thinks hard to remember, as the car is outside in the cold, not here in the warm* about 55,000 or something and the belt is not ticked as having been done then.

Now, I did a bit of searching and found this on here:

oothed belt change interval Octavia

1.9Tdi & Sdi up to 4/2001 - 60,000 miles

1.9Tdi & Sdi from 5/2001 - 4/2002 - 80,000 miles

1.9Tdi & Sdi from 5/2002 - 100,000 miles

1.9Tdi & 130bhp PD up to 7/2000 - 60,000 miles

1.9Tdi & 130bhp PD up from 8/2003 - 80,000 miles

All petrol engines: check condition at 60,000 miles, every 20,000 thereafter, change as necessary

1.8 litre petrol engine - 120,000 miles

Which would lead me to believe I've got (2002 51 reg) about 15k or so to go before it'll want changing? Or am I completely wrong and I'll just be greeted one day upon starting with a 'Service now due. Please insert

I'm not sure what the official spec is for your Octavia - but for a 2001 A3(Same engine) it would be every 60,000 miles.

I would also suggest you get the waterpump checked/replaced at the same time - as it's the same amount of work again to replace it, if it goes seperately.

Hope This Helps

My 03 plate 110tdi was "check at 60k , replace at 80k"

I concur with the above (51 Golf Tdi owner with 1.9 130bhp PD engine) my Golf with the same engine requires a belt at 60,000. It's a good idea to replace the tensioner, roller & water pump at the same time as they are all in contact with the cambelt and a failure of any one of them would be disasterous.

Well, I've checked the service schedule and it says it was last serviced at 56,000 miles... is it wrong to think that they would have done the 60,000 mile 'check' then?
