Side (Wing) indicator removal

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to remove the small indicators on the side of the car? I'm pondering changing the bulbs to yellow LED ones but I want to check the coverage first, but I can't get the covers off. I've tried with the screwdriver wrapped in cloth but I can see me removing a little paint in the recess already and the cover is barely budging. There is a arrow pointing forwards, although it doesn't seem to have any relevance.

I've done a few searches without much success. Can anybody help?

Better off removing a couple of the wheel arch liner screws on that side and getting a hand in there - It unclips from the inside. :)

If you want to change the bulb then just take the arch liner screws out, get you hand inside and twist out the bulb holder from behind the lamp.

Cheers Jase. :)

I think you need to remove the wheel arch liner to get to them. EDIT: DOH! too slow

Be careful with LED indicators, as some have such little resistance that it fools the system into thinking you have blown a bulb.

I'll have a crack at it again at the weekend. I'd taken off 4 screws and the liner was hardly moving at all.

You might need to remove all the screws? - Always found removing the wheel made access to all the screws easier (some are kind of deeper into the wheel arch)

Yeah I suspect that's the case. The liner seems to be secured with a lip around the perimeter of the wheelarch. Looks like wheel-off is the easiest solution . . . I say easiest, but there's no flat land on our road / drive! Have to go to the next road to change wheels etc.!
