Key fob issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

As I recently bought my Skoda Octavia TDi 2005, with I really appreciate very much, I bought a new key from eBay.

The blade is cut and fits like a new key.

The chip has to be programmed, someone in Belfast is obviously able to do that for a certain amount.

I tried to have the remote part working, so followed numerous procedures with no results.

After again an evening on my best friend, google, I found out that there are different remotes.

I bought, dumbo me, the fob with code 1J0 959 753 DA/AH, can anyone advise me if this is the right part, or do I have to find HL0 1K0 959 753 G or is this also not the correct code.

If anyone knows the right part to buy, please help me out with this, it just feels a bit scary with only one key.

Would the remote work without it being programmed???

I only received one remote when I bought mine, but with a non remote one also.

Only realised months later that the non remote one won't start the engine.

I cannot help with part numbers, sorry.

Is there any Skoda driver with good knowledge of key fob, key programming etc, who lives in Northern Ireland?

Someone who might be able to help me out with this issue, which doesn't have to be free of charge.

Check the VAG Com/VCDS owners map to see if there is someone in Bangor or close to you.

There is a few VAG Specialists in Belfast that will be able to help you.

Have a search on www.reallymeansounds.com which is a local enthusiasts forum for someone that may be able to assist!

Well, the chip is working, so at least I have a working key and can start the car.

The remote will not communicate with the car.

We found out that the car can receive the signal, but the fob will not communicate with the cars receiver, for what ever reason.

Tested are both, 1J0 959 753 DA/AH and 1K0 959 753 G transmitters.

did your car have remote locking to start with?

if it did, did you delete remotes before trying to adapt them?

The car is equipped with remote locking, this is checked and tested by the guy, a professional who made the transponder work for the car.

It checked with the laptop connected to the car.

I am not aware about deleting the remotes before to adapt them.

The 1J0 959 753 DA/AH is totally new, eBay, but I actually think this is for the first edition Octavia.

The 1K0 959 753 G is a used remote, also from eBay.

Can you advise me how to delete (or should it be clear?) the remote, so I can have a try again?

When I bought the car, there was only one key, which didn't have the remote.

Couple of points that may/ may not help.

You will have worked out that the key fob with the flip out blade is coded to the car ( any spare keys that are just keys will open doors but not start the car)

My second hnad Octavia came with 1 remote fob which did not work. A new battery made it work some times. I have discovered that if I hold the fob near the o/s windscreen pillar the remote works every time ( I think the ariel is in the screen pillar).

There is a houshold key cutting company here called Timpsons. They charged £10 to replace the battery ( which is £8.50 too much but hey ho). They said that they could also code a spare key fob and cut a new blade but wanted £150. I declined and have yet to phone around for some better prices but I expect a decent auto locksmith would beat that price

The transponder is new and is working, so I am able to start the car.

The issue is to have the remote to work with the car, so I will be able to open the doors.

The battery's on both fob's are replaced this morning, the lights on both fob's are working.

The receiver for the remote door opening is working, but we are unable to have the remote paired to have the doors unlocked.

I used this link to find a locksmith who could cut the blade and program the transponder, for a very decent 50 pounds.

Remote part has nothing to do with starting the car

YOU MUST delete remotes before you CAN adapt the remotes

Using VCDS

Address 46 > Adaption Channel 00 > read and save (this will delete the remotes stored)

Adaption Channel 01 > Enter in New value the number of remotes you want to adapt

1 = 1 Remote

2 = 2 Remotes

3 = 3 Remotes

Test and Save > click ok in the pop up box

You now have a few seconds to press the UNLOCK button on the remote, if it works the car indicators should flash. Do this with all the remotes you want to adapt

I understand this can only be done with VCDS?

can also be done with VAS or Vag CAN Pro
