design flaw of the boot cover hinge?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been discussed, but it`s beyond my belief that the area around the hinge of boot cover can be flooded.

After a few day`s rain, I found little puddles around the boot cover hinges.

The leaves block the water outlet a little, but the shape of the area (like a small basin) is the primary reason.

I'm sure that at speed or on a gradient, the water will be blown away (or dried), but is there any reason for that shape/design?

How is the water there actually channelled? Anyone has a manual that shows it?

The water is gathering purely down to the amount of crap that has gathered, clean the channels every couple of months when you wash the car and no water will gather there.

Yeah it's a crap idea. They quite often seize up and used to snap on the 3B Passat. Teflon coated bushing helped with them getting stiff.
