Warning Against Excessive Speed

Featured Replies

Help I am confused and need help and do not have a young school kid on hand to assist.

I am trying to set the Excessive Speed Warning program on my Elegance, see page 22 of owners handbook.

Using either program memory 1 or 2 I can set it to zero, but how do I then set the required speed?

The diagram shown in the handbook is not the same as found on my dash panel, but even so the instructions in the handbook do not tell you what to do, unless it is me.

I tend to refer to the speedometer..... :)

Ah but that 2 litre diesel donk takes you over 30 mph with the foot barely resting on the gas pedal and this is a common problem on most modern cars, which the Fuzz do not seem to accept as an excuse.

I need all the aid I can get in this modern world.

Is it fitted to UK cars? I have a feeling its only installed in certain countries. It certainly won't help with 30 or indeed with 70 for that matter, I think the setting is 130kph.

Don't know for sure however.

Ooops - I was just about to post how and then realised that's how to do it on my 5 series BMW.

Sorry, can't be of help. :thumbdwn:

I just done this on mine the other day, IIRC you have to drive at the speed you want to set it to and then press the button to set (think it was the little one under the stalk).

Word of warning though - It will get on your nerves if you set it to low.

Hope this helps.

Speed warning is only available on cars fitted with Maxidot display - pretty sure unless someone tells me different.

 Yup that's how you do it. Mine is set for 110 mph and you are right it does get on your nerves

Try turning up the stereo and sticking your hand through the steering wheel and put it over the Maxidot display, then it no longer becomes an issue!!!!

PS Use your right hand or it becomes difficult to change gear:)

Don't put your arm through the steering wheel while steering around a corner like I did. Hurt like hell and nearly hit a bus when my arm got stuck. Not one of my sharpest ideas and its mentioned every time my mate who was a passenger gets liquored.

I Noticed the excessive speed feature in the Fabia Handbook, It's marked with a * (Certain Countries Only) I Think it would be quite useful, can it be enabled in VAG COM?

Was that when you were resetting your service interval ?:D

 Top right side of the net. Slipped right through my fingers. 1-0 to YeeHaa2.0TDI. I'm watching you  . One slipup and it'll be worldwide news.

I'm gonna blame the reset on my kid! He's always mucking about in the car and wanting to borrow it. I do my best to keep him out of it but what can you do and to think that the terrible 2's are just round the corner.

Try and not panic when he's twisting every kn0b and switch in reach; the indicator stalk is stronger than it looks

If you were a bit nicer i'd have let you in on the secret overboost button I found

I think you better leave the buttons to junior ;)
