Detailing experience

Featured Replies

Ok, if you don't ask you don't get.........

I live in the Huddersfield area and would like to know if anyone within a reasonable radius would be prepared for me to meet and greet to discuss detailing and their experiences along with either watching your car go through your process and/or get involved in said process in order to gain practical experience.

Sat behind a PC reading reviews etc is very informative but up close and personal is the sharp end.  An obvious great opportunity to meet like minded people and have a brew!

All the best

    Keep this thread alive and any one who is local can sort a meet for detailing for the title above. All we would need to do is sort a place to hold it really. Bring our motors and a few products you

    Likewise - not too far from Karl actually - literally 400 yards away in fact         So if you guys fancy planning a detailing day - let me know....

  • Now that sounds like a plan,I'll bring the golf :-)

I'm based in Bradford (Bingley) and would be willing to help you with anything you need to know.

More than happy to help and I'm sure other local chaps will be too!

I'm also in Halifax

^^ Precisely what I was saying David, many chaps locally willing to help. If we could organise a Sunday between us all it would be a great day!

This is superb news, three brains to 'pick'!.....just what I was looking for! Throw a few dates my way when you get chance and let's make it happen!

If you guys want to make it into a mini-meet, I'll see if I can make it over.

Need to sort paintwork on the 23yr old Eunos anyway! :)

Might be worth seeing what weekends Alan_R36 is not working shifts;

this is the sort thing he would be keen on as well. :thumbup:

My only current commitments are the first and last week in August.....other than that I'm fairly flexible.  Saturdays work better for me and the kids but I appreciate others may prefer a Sunday..........any suggestions re location?

A friend had kindly donated his 2002 black Audi TT for me go have a bash at detailing next week. I'll have it for a few days as he's on holiday so there's no pressure to complete....

If anyone has any advice re old Audi paint or dealing with black cars specifically fire it through please.....or if anyone has time free to oversee the process and offer on the job advice it'd be gratefully received.

Are you machine polishing or doing it by hand?

Using a DA....

Going back to the Detailing routines and things, I'm struggling for space at my house at the moment & is a bit of pain with the tap being at the back of house, plus a new addition to the family (a kitten) can't let her out so would be a struggle but I'm still looking to find a spot.

Another alternative for you would be to look into the detailing days that are on offer from Autobrite. Clive Pepper runs them. Called back to basics day. Reasonably priced aswell so certainly worth the punt in booking one!

Agreed Karl - i must admit; i would love to help out in organising or hosting this event;

but i really dont have the space for the number interested at my home address.

Not sure if there is anyone else local with a bit more space/parking to help the cause?

If I was still in the UK, this would have appealed to me as I am ex Halifax so not that far away.

I too would be struggling to be a host venue, certainly for more than two cars.....let's hope something crops up!  What are folks specifically wanting to do on the day, so we can gauge what we need in terms of facilities.

I might have an option if people are up for a drive over to saddleworth?

Fine by me, what you thinking? How much kit will we need?

I know a guy that has his own detailing company,so if enough people are interested he might be up for holding a meet. He has spare panels to practice on so don't have to worry about messing up your car, I'd just bring your da along with whatever pads you have.

So I've just spoke to Matt at obsidian detailing over at saddleworth and he has kindly offered his premises and expert advice, so if enough people are interested/willing to make the trip over I shall try get a date&time sorted and make this official.

That sounds like a right day out!
