Sat Nav Foul-up

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is a bit complex, please be patient.

The maxidot display (Multifunction Display) in the instrument cluster has, since I bought the car 3 months ago, displayed the current road speed in digital format. This only changed during navigation, when it displayed arrows showing the recommended turn at the next junction . No problem.

Now the maxidot shows a graphic of a car surrounded by a compass dial showing the direction of travel. The car graphic remains stationary whilst the compass dial rotates around is as necessary.

I don't know how to get back the digital speed display. I have looked in Car / settings / instrument cluster and the "Digital speed display" option is ticked correctly.

Sat nav is off, but I notice that a message 'starting navigation system' (or similar) is displayed when I turn on the ignition.

If I turn the nav on, then turn it off again, the graphic remains.

There is no sign of this graphic in any of the manuals.

The problem first arose when I was trying to find out how to turn off the sat nav whilst driving. I obviously pressed something whic caused this problem, but I have no idea what.

All help gladly welcomed.

press the arrow button on the multi function steering wheel.

this will let you go back and select the other options on the MFD

Press the back button on the steering wheel controls as per the manual.

As stated press the button to the right of the right hand thumb wheel then you can scroll the thumb wheel up and down to the 5 different display options:

OK all thanks. I've not used that RHS buttons on the MFSW at all, and find the manuals incomprehensible.

Can I be clear please before going out & trying it?

The only arrow buttons are on the LHS, they control which track I am listening to on the Media.

The RHS thumbwheel (UK )  has an up arrow & a down arrow above/below. are these the arrows you mean?  I press the wheel then scroll up down ?

Which manual is this in, & whereabouts (roughly) ? I get dizzy just reading them.

Sorry to be careful, but I'm not as young as I used to be.

Thanks again

Press the area immediately to the right of the thumbwheel with the arrow symbol, then scroll the option menus. When you have the speed displayed you can scroll through mpg, average speed, time of journey etc.

OK I think I have solved it!

The 'arrow' button is what I thought of as the 'back' button, I think that was what was confusing me.

I find this whole process to be one of 'trial and error'.

mega-thanks to all

The information regarding the Radio and steering wheel controls is in a separate booklet in the manual wallet.

HI again, you mean the Amundsen/Bolero infotainment manual?  I have 2 manuals, I find the radio stuff there, but the msfw in the car user manual.

Or is that what you meant ?

You meant they are in separate booklets?

Sorry I get it

Thanks again
