2.0 tdi...what MPG?

Featured Replies

What mpg are you all getting with the 2.0tdi?

I've managed to get 62 max.

i managed around 59mpg when i hired one a few months back, also had it as low as 30mpg...

I seem to get about 43mpg on my overall trip meter, this is over approx 700 miles since last reset:( . I have got over 55 mpg on some journeys, but I seem to driving a bit more aggressively since getting it:rofl:

Mine seems quite sensitive to cruising speed on the motorway. Holding cruise control at 130 Kph on an empty French autoroute I can reliably get an average 47 mpg (don't look at the real-time read out up long hills though  ). If I let it creep up a bit the figure begins to drop significantly. Slowing down to 110 has less of an effect. Nicely tuned for continental long distance work ? Also seems quieter and smoother at 80 ish MPH than 70

Had 70mpg showing on trip computer:thumbup:

I've had the display showing 51.7 on a run from London to Bolton. However I've started checking how accurate the display is.

For the last tankful of fuel, the computer claimed 44.4mpg, but I had done 498 miles and needed 54.5 litres to fill it up (I know its only supposed to be a 53.5 litre tank), so the real mpg was closer to 41.5.

Not a bad picture for a sloth:D

I average 48 mpg and yes my Octy seems happier @ 80mph ; approx 2500rpm

42.7 mpg average since I got it 3 months ago (2000 miles) ago. I don't go that easy on it though and i mainly drive in town. I've done about 400 of those miles on motorways. I do expect the MPG to increase a bit further though by 5000 miles but I think around 43 mpg is excellent given the type of driving I do.

Best ive got so far is around 55mpg but it drops to low thirtys around town.

Not bad for someone with a heavy right foot.

Crikey I've had mine 3 months and a week today and done 9500 miles.

SWMBO doesn't let me out much :( and all our jobs in work are around Belfast so no long runs to Londonderry, Armagh or Dublin on the cards at the moment. Not too worried as my allowance is 10k and i'm sure to be doing long runs later in the year:D . Are you taxiing or something?

2.0 Tdi with DSG. Since new (2,400 miles) I have averaged 44.8MPG. However it is creeping up as the mileage increases and I think it is now doing about 47 mpg with a mix of town and 50 miles+ drives. Around town it seems to do about 38mpg and on longer journeys about 49 mpg. I guess the mpg depends more on the type of driving you do than anything else - particularly with DSG gearbox (which is absolutely brilliant).

Incidentally the computer seems accurate on my car as checking the "brim to brim" mileage it was less than 0.2 mpg different from the computer.

Are you taxiing or something?

I wish I had the time !!

Blimey ! I thought I was busy doing 30k this year in mine !

Can't get mine to budge from 48mpg for the last 50k miles.

Fuel computer shows 52 average over last 12 months (inc. periodic resets)

Best seen on a run over 40 miles 67.8mpg with cruise on at 70 mph

47.52 over 29,000 Miles

If I use the cuise control at 70mph I get the best fuel economy. I never drive in sport mode. Best I have had is 59 on a 200 mile motorway all the way drive at 70mph.

My DSG estate with 12000 miles on the clock now, is returning around 44mpg using the auto. This is calculated brim to brim, although the computer is showing 47!!

DSG Estate 2.0 Tdi now up to 45.4 after 2,900 miles. I seem to get about 49 on motorways trips (75-80 mph) and 38 around town on short trips. It is the mix of driving , and weight of right foot, that has the biggest influence on mpg!!

I regret to being very sad. The trip computer is hopelessly over optimistic. It claims 47 to 55, but the true measured actual mpg over 10033 miles is 45.83.

Best so far (it's improved markedly over 15K miles) is (using Cruise control) 62mpg with no passengers at a steady 75mph.

Overall 51 mpg provided no more than 20% urban: any more urban than that as a % and it suffers........ fun, though!

18k miles (and first service) coming up, and I reset it every time I fill up. Pretty disappointed now though if the computer's showing less than 50 average on a tankful.
